I have retired from swimming now, but when I was in full training I swam six days a week for 2 hours. I usually did 2.4km each session. Each session usually involved a warm up swim of 400 metres, then a main set and swim down. After a session I stretched the muscles I used to help recover for my next session.
I also had a sport massage once a week ( the kind that hurts!), visited a physio regularly, did a weekly session of boxing and weights with my personal trainer and visited a nutritionist to make sure I was eating healthily.
